If you want to be a part of the digital music revolution, then you need
to visit the Apple iTunes UK music store, which has over 2,000,000 tracks
(and counting) available
for
you
to download, including many exclusive tracks from your favourite artists
that are only available through iTunes. At the time of writing, single
track downloads cost just 79p, and albums start
from
around £7.99.
One
of the
best things
about
Apple iTunes is that if offers 30 second clips of tracks, which makes
discovering new music really easy. The iTunes service has also been expanded
so that you can download music videos and American TV shows. Then there's
the audiobooks and thousands of free podcasts (radio programmes to download,
from individuals and big organisations alike).
All you need to do to join in the
fun is download
the Apple iTunes software
which runs on either Apple Mac
or PC. You will need a reasonably specced computer, and a broadband
internet
connection for downloading the software (at 33MB it's quite a large file),
and for
buying
and
streaming
the
music. Below is a screen print of the iTunes interface:
 The
iTunes software is of course included on CD-Rom when you buy an iPod,
and the software has been designed to sync seamlessly with an iPod, so
that your music on the go can easily keep up to date with the music you
have purchase from the iTunes Store.
Another cool feature of the iTunes store is that you'll find playlists
prepared by celebrities, so you can see what your favourite artists like
to listen to. We've just checked out the playlists of Jamie Cullum and
Kirsten Dunst!
